The Early Trips

Living in the South all of my life and from a middle class family, it never came to me that I may someday travel on such a journey as I was going to take.

The "Beginning" of my Greek travels began on the morning of Thursday, April 6, 2000 with a flight out of New York directly into Athens.  Arrived in Athens into the arms of the family giving us plenty of hugs and warm welcomes.  Of course the small ones were the ones the grands held onto so long.

A Memorial Visit

The picture below was taken at one of the many war memorials in Greece.  The white lettering you see, in rather vague translation, means No War....but Peace.  There were large, upright slabs of marble with the listing of all the men and young boys thrown over the cliffs of the town so they could not join in the war.  Somehow, this No War but Peace and the way the memorial was built made one stop and think.  I have not forgotten that day standing in the place of the sorrow of all those who died, but the town rebuilt in faith.  For them I wanted to include it on my Beginning page, I hope they will not mind.  It is included with respect and no dishonor meant.

Reasoning??

Everyone knows how a picture will fade, get torn, bent up....or the older kinds before we got in the tech world of digital pictures.  For this reason, I have found that putting my pictures on this site I am able to share them, save them, or just know that I won't lose them.  Perhaps, someday my family will look back over them and remember my talking of each picture or trip and laugh saying "yes, she did have a blast...but that was Mom for you"

agpsygrl is my usual nickname
